Below you will see an active counseling calendar with all of Mrs. Newton's classes and events.

Students can make appointments to talk with Mrs. Newton either in person or through email. They can talk to her at lunch, before or after school, or can ask to talk to her during class. Students can only schedule 1 formal appointment with Mrs. Newton without parent permission. After that, Mrs. Newton will send home a counseling permission form to receive permission in order to continue meet with the student. Parents/guardians can request appointments with Mrs. Newton at any time by sending an email to lnewton@nsummit.org.

Each student will go to Mrs. Newton's Success class every other week. This course is designed to address the social, emotional, academic, and career development needs of each student on a developmentally appropriate level. This course focuses on social emotional (SEL) skills that are not only critical to being a successful student, but also a good employee, leader, and citizen.

Mrs. Newton also teaches 7th grade College & Career Awareness (CCA) where the 7th grade students will attend her class every other week during 7th hour (CCA). This course is designed to increase awareness of college and career pathways and explores high school, college, and career options based on individual student interests, abilities, and sills. Students will investigate high-skill and/or in-demand jobs in the Utah labor market while developing workplace skills.
